Historically, Italy has been one of the leading European horse racing nations, albeit some respects behind Great Britain, Ireland and France in size and prestige. The late Italian horse breeder Federico Tesio was particularly notable. In recent years, however, the sport in the country has suffered a major funding crisis, culminating in its expulsion from the European Pattern.[42]
All betting tips on ProTIpster are objectively rated by an algorithm. This works by looking at specific data points within the history of a tipster before assigning a score. Data the algorithm looks at includes how well the tipster has performed with the same teams, in the same tournaments and in the same betting markets.

The algorithm gives additional weight to how well a tipster has done with their sports predictions for the same team and tournament as these are the most important factors. All details for betting tips are posted in the individual pick screen so that users and tipsters alike can check and verify score data should they choose. This data can also be used by tipsters to help understand what they are best at betting on and where they should concentrate their sports predictions.

Registration for ProTIpster is simple and and above all risk free – sign up today to get access to all free betting tips on site as well as excellent content via site notifications and email to help you get the most from your online betting.

Betting Trends – Members see the action come in bet by bet. We currently track betting percentage data from 7 online sportsbooks. Monitoring betting trends data is one of the most vital tools used by successful professional handicappers to find value within the sports betting marketplace. You’ll know which teams the public is chasing and which teams the sharps are pounding. When the public loads up on one side, sports books are forced to move the line to attract money on the other team to reduce their risk. Sportsbooks knowingly leave money on the table for you to grab.
The greatest rivalry in basketball is on tap for a stacked college basketball card as the No. 8 North Carolina Tar Heels face the No. 1 Duke Blue Devils. The Tar Heels rebounded after a tough home loss to Virginia by stomping Wake Forest by 38 points. But can they stop Duke’s duo of Zion Williamson and RJ Barrett, who are combining to average 45.1 points per game?
One approach—familiar to Benter from his blackjack days—was to adapt the work of a gunslinging Texas physicist named John Kelly Jr., who’d studied the problem in the 1950s. Kelly imagined a scenario in which a horse-racing gambler has an edge: a “private wire” of fairly reliable tips. How should he bet? Wager too little, and the advantage is squandered. Too much, and ruin beckons. (Remember, the tips are good but not perfect.) Kelly’s solution was to wager an amount in line with the gambler’s confidence in the tip.
If you place two $100 bets, and you win, you’ll collect $440. You should consider leaving a tip around five percent of your winnings. Yes, that’s a $22 tip, but you just made a huge win, and surely you can spring for a twenty-spot for the guy who helped you win it. If you tip around the five percent mark regularly, when you win, you’re way more likely to get free drinks, which is about all you’re going to get comp-wise at the sportsbook.
Big favorites inexplicably lose. Underdogs with seemingly no shot rise up unexpectedly (the Buffalo Bills were 17-point underdogs against the Minnesota Vikings on Sept. 23, yet won the game 27-6.) Games that appear set for high-scoring shootouts end as low-scoring affairs. A star quarterback or running back gets injured early in a game and never returns.
2018 Santa Anita Handicap Day - Favorite Accelerate won the Santa Anita Handicap (G1) by 5 1/2 lengths on Saturday over Mubtaahij and Fear the Cowboy. Also on the card, Bowies Hero won the Frank E. Benter’s Las Vegas friends wouldn’t stake him at horse racing, but they would at blackjack. He took their money to Atlantic City and spent two years managing a team of card counters, brooding, and working on the racing model in his spare time. In September 1988, having amassed a few hundred thousand dollars, he returned to Hong Kong. Sure enough, Woods was still there. The Australian had hired programmers and mathematicians to develop Benter’s code and was making money. He’d moved into a penthouse flat with a spectacular view. Benter refused to speak to him.

Contemporary accounts identified riders (in England called jockeys—if professional—from the second half of the 17th century and later in French racing), but their names were not at first officially recorded. Only the names of winning trainers and riders were at first recorded in the Racing Calendar, but by the late 1850s all were named. This neglect of the riders is partly explained in that when races consisted of 4-mile heats, with the winning of two heats needed for victory, the individual rider’s judgment and skill were not so vital. As dash racing (one heat) became the rule, a few yards in a race gained importance, and, consequently, so did the rider’s skill and judgment in coaxing that advantage from his mount.
Gotham Stakes Day at Aqueduct - Enticed won the featured Gotham Stakes (G3) by 2 3/4 lengths over longshot Old Time Revival and favorite Free Drop Billy. Also on the card, Skyler's Scramjet won the Tom Fool Handicap (G3), Divine Miss Grey won the Heavenly Prize Invitational, and Harlan Punch won the Stymie Stakes. Contemporary organized endurance racing began in California around 1955, and the first race marked the beginning of the Tevis Cup[16] This race was a one-hundred-mile, one-day-long ride starting in Squaw Valley, Placer County, and ending in Auburn. Founded in 1972, the American Endurance Ride Conference was the United States' first national endurance riding association.[15] The longest endurance race in the world is the Mongol Derby, which is 1,000 km (620 mi) long.[17]
